Last month we had a real treat at our club meeting when Willie Young presented on how he fishes the Hutt River. If you did not get to attend the meeting it is worth a solid watch as Willie details the Where and How to catch the brown trout in the Hutt River.
And there are a lot of fish in the river, drift dives last season revealed over 160 trout in one 1.4 KM section. That was the highest Fish and Game count anywhere in the region! I took a few notes when Willie presented at the club meeting. Here were some of the Gems, I recorded to get you excited and help prepare. Paul Dewar, who was our guest speaker at the Club meeting on 22nd June, gave a very interesting talk on the proposed changes to fishing regulations for the coming season. At the club meeting on 23rd March, we had Didymo Dave along. For many, this was a first time hearing him, and he brought a mix of humour, straight talk, and a message that landed clearly. Dave has a way of making a serious topic feel accessible. There were plenty of laughs along the way, but the key points came through strongly.  Corina is an experienced and very keen fisherwoman and hunter with a strong drive and high intelligence, passion and qualities that put her in a very strong position to lead Fish & Game NZ (F&G) into the new era. That was my assessment of her presentation to the Club.
